Georgia’s First-Ever Black-Owned Brewery

 Located on 1308 Glenwood Ave SE, Hippin Hops is the first Black-owned brewery in the East Atlanta Village. It is owned by a very humble Clarence Boston.

Fun Fact: A barbershop was once located here, one which Clarence would often visit.

How It Was Realized That It Is the First Black-Owned Brewery in Town

When he had started with the business, Clarence was not aware of the fact that his business was the first of their kind owned by Black people – in the state of Georgia, that is. While he was on the road to solidifying his business as a brewery and seafood hub, he came to realize that he became the first Black owner/operator of a brewery in the city and even the whole state.

Clarence Boston has a micro-brewing experience of 20 years and just recently opened the brewery about 10-12 days ago. People who have visited and availed their services have mostly given positive reviews on Yelp.

Their marvelous seafood bar consists of delicacies such as:

• Shrimp and grits.
• Oysters.
• Lobster rolls.
• Cajun shrimp deviled eggs.
• Gator bites.
• And a classic, traditional sandwich inspired by Louisiana flavor; roasted beef or fried seafood such as fish, shrimp, crab, crawfish, or oysters on French bread!

Clarence Boston's talented team also has his wife onboard – Chef Donnica. She is a big fan of oysters, shellfish, and Cajun food due to her Louisianian interests. She has made most of the menu in a way that the seafood dishes are Louisiana-inspired. And then beer just goes great with oysters, her husband adds on; they wanted to create something unique but still just as enjoyable and delicious as a good old pizza and beer combo.

Working Hours:

Hippin Hops' operational hours are:

• Closed on Monday & Tuesday.
• 5 pm – 11 pm: Wednesday to Friday.
• 12 pm – 11 pm on Saturdays.
• 12 pm – 10 pm on Sundays.

Besides brewing super fine beer and serving high-quality seafood items, Hippin Hops is dedicated to their work with their full hearts and minds. They use the finest ingredients and use brilliant techniques to craft authentic and flavorful beers.

They not only focus on serving great food but also work to establish the restaurant as a center of creativity.
